Visit eCitizenSection 8(3) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011 provides that every dual citizen shall disclose his/her other citizenship within three months of becoming a dual citizen.
Failure to disclose in the prescribed manner attracts a fine of up to KSh 5 million or imprisonment for up to 3 years, or both (Section 8(4)).
Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Under Section 19(1) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011, a Kenyan citizen by birth who voluntarily renounces citizenship must have their declaration registered by the Cabinet Secretary.
Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Registration fee is non-refundable.
This applies to those who were citizens of Kenya by birth but ceased to be citizens because they acquired another nationality before 27th August 2010.
Do not apply for a Kenyan ID or passport until you have regained your Kenyan citizenship.
